2012 Paralympic Games
September 05-08 Brands Hatch, Kent, England, UK.
The races for tricyclists (T1 and T2 men and women) will be held in the following sessions:
Time trial |
September 05, 14.30 - 18.50 | |
| Road race | September 08, 10.30 - 12.20 |
Note: In the Paralympic tricycle time-trial and road race all four categories of tricycle competitor, T1 & T2, men and women, will compete together. In the road race all riders (T1 Men, T1 Women, T2 Men and T2 Women) will start together and the medals will be awarded to the first three to finish. In the time trial all riders will compete in the same event; however, the times will be adjusted by a numerical “factor” to allow for the difference of ability between the four groups. It is hoped that this will give competitors from each of these four groups an equal chance of success. The medals in the time trial will be awarded after factoring, not on the fastest finishing times.
The factoring will be derived from the performance of the times of the third person to finish in all major international competitions in the period from 2006 to 2012. (This includes world championships, paralympic games and world cup events.) The system of factoring employed will apply to groups, not individuals.
