- (17 jan) Alweer een nieuw jaar! 't Moest er van komen. We starten met goed nieuws: het originele parcours van de 7 van Kettelo is toch beschikbaar voor het WK tijdrijden. De wegenwerken starten pas achteraf. / Again a new year has begun! There is no way escaping it. But we start with good news: the original 7 of Kettlo circuit will be available for the WTC time trial. The road works will start after the races.

- (26 dec) Allerbeste 3wielwensen voor 2012. Dé 3wielkoersen van 2012 om naar uit te kijken zijn de Wereldkampioenschappen in Asse en Merchtem, en de Paralympics in London. Tot volgend jaar! / Very best wishes for 2012. The major tricycle events of 2012 are the World Tricycle Championships in Asse and Merchtem, and the Paralympics in London. See You next year!

- (11 dec) Het is alweer een eeuwigheid geleden, maar tijdens het winterseizoen, waarin weliswaar vanalles gebeurt waarvan later zeker nog bericht, ging de volle aandacht van uw webdienaar vooreerst naar training (kwestie van in 2012 niet als laatste te eindigen) en vervolgens naar het boek over De Snassers, de lokale cyclocrossclub die in 2012 vijftig jaar bestaat en er dan ook mee stopt. Het boek is bijna af! Het boek 'Gestook op de Stokenberg', waarvan de opbrengst naar 3wielweb gaat, wordt op zaterdag 3 november 2012 voorgesteld, tijdens feestelijkheden en een allerlaatste cyclocross in Asse-Krokegem. Hou die datum vrij! / It has been some time since your web servant is back with some news. Of course this is the Winter season, but then again quite some things are happening that will be communicated later on. You web servant still is quite preoccupied with the 'Snassers' book, which is about cyclo-cross in a small village in Belgium since 1962. Not only about the sport but also about social and cultural history of the area. The book is nearly finished now, however only in Dutch (for the moment...). The book will be presented in 2012 on Saturday November 3. On that that day the Snassers will celebrate both 50 years of existence and stopping of activities with a last cyclo cross event and with the presentation of the book.

- (7 nov) Uw webdienaar is nog steeds zeer druk doende met het boek over de cyclocrossclub De Snassers. Het boek met de titel 'Gestook op de Stokenberg' wordt uitgegeven door Bola Editions in oktober 2012. / Your webservant has been and still is very busy writing the book about cyclocrossclub The Snassers, to be published in Dutch by Bola Editions in October 2012.

- (24 okt) Er worden in 2012 maanden gewerkt aan een gedeelte (Boven Vrijlegem en Drielindenbaan) van het 7 van Kettelo parcours, ook het parcours van het WK tijdrijden, wat concreet betekent dat we een alternatief moeten zoeken. Er zijn al voorstellen, die worden momenteel bekeken door de autoriteiten. Zo gauw er nieuws is, laten we dat weten. / There will be road works for months on the 7 of Kettelo circuit in 2012 (Boven Vrijlegem and Drielindenbaan), shich is also the circuit for the WTC time trial, meaning an alternative must be found. - (6 okt) We zijn al in oktober. Jongens toch! Binnenkort komen we hier terug met een persbericht voor het WK 2012, de definitieve stand van de Emile De Beukelaer Trofee 2011 en een foto van onze Quentin Aubague, wereldkampioen tijdrijden paracycling 2011. Die zegt nog absoluut niet zeker te zijn van een selectie voor de Paralympics van 2012 in London, wat bijzonder jammer zou zijn. Hoe kan er getwijfeld worden aan een wereldkampioen, al voor het tweede jaar op rij? Nog een nieuwtje: de piste van Affligem is bijna klaar, wel is het al duidelijk dat die niet geschikt is voor trikes, wel schitterend voor bikes. We zoeken verder. / Already October and no one warns me! How time flies. Soon we will be back with a press release for the 2012 WTC, with the definitive standings in the 2011 Emile De Beukelaer Trophy, and with a great photo of our Quentin Aubague who won the 2011 world paracycling time trial championship title . Something else: the Affligem cycle track is nearly ready; alas not suited for trikes, but for bikes it is a jewel!

- (28 sept) Uw webdienaar was even weg van hier geweest, vooral als gevolg van werken aan het Snassersboek, over het reilen en zeilen van de oudste cyclocrossclub van België. De hoofdtitel kan al verklapt: 'Gestook op de Stokenberg'. Ondertussen : de Try a Trike sessie en de animatie, door 3wielweb verzorgd rond het OCMW rusthuis van Merchtem, was bijzonder geslaagd met DJ Dave in een glansrol. En wat de uitslag van de koers in Antwerpen betreft, hierna eindelijk -na rijp beraad- de officiële uitslag: 1. Joeri Meyen 2. Jonas Sablon 3. Wayne Baker 4. Gilbert Lepage 5. ex aequo: Hilde Verbeken, Jurgen De Braekeler, John Dalton, Gerry Meyen, Dave Beeckman, Brecht De Braekeler, Tim Celen en André Van Bosbeke. We verwelkomen nieuwe jonge renners als Tim Celen, slechts 13 jaar, en Jonas Sablon, reeds op 17-jarige leeftijd een te duchten konkurrent op de wereldkampioenschappen van 2012. Meanwhile the Try a Trike session and animation at the Merchtem rest home for older people has been quite successfull, with thanks to DJ Dave. - (21 sept) Komende maandag 26 september verzorgt 3wielweb vanaf 14u30 de openingsdag van het "Beweegproject vzw Ter Stelten", het rusthuis van het OCMW Merchtem. Op het programma : Try a Trike event en animatie. / Coming Monday September 26, 3wielweb will animate from 14.30 onwards the opening day of the mobility project of vzw Ter Stelten, the town of Merchtem's rest home. - (13 sept) Antwerp Road Race: waar parkeren? Het zal misschien niet zo makkelijk zijn, maar de organisatie Antwerpen Autovrij meldde dat op de Leien wel moet kunnen. Vanaf bvb. de Frankrijklei is de Meir dichtbij. Ook op Linkeroever kan (naar het schijnt makkelijk) geparkeerd, van daar kan via de Sint-Annatunnel, fiets- en voetgangerstunnel onder de Schelde, naar de binnenstad en dus naar de Meir worden gereden of gestapt. De straten tussen de Leien en de Schelde zijn verkeersvrij tussen 10u en 18u. Zie ook de website van Antwerpen Autovrij en de rubriek Tricyclon. Pak in elk geval een jas mee, de weersvoorspellingen zijn niet echt denderend, maar we hopen op beter. - (12 sept) In Groot-Brittannië werd Carl Saint opnieuw zonder tegenstand nationaal kampioen, zowel op de 10 als de 25 miles (tijdrijden). In de 10 werd Howard Waller tweede en Wayne Baker derde. In de 25 werd Geoff Booker tweede en Dave Worsfold derde. Volledige uitslagen. / In Great Brittain Carl Saint again won the national championship on the 10 and 25 miles. We zullen er als enige 3wielerteam rijden, een primeur. Start van het Avalympics 3wielerteam: 15u15. / More news: coming Sunday August 20, (in alphabetical order) Dave Beeckman, Gerry Meyen, Tim Celen en André Van Bosbeke will compete in a team time trial in Geel called de Tijdrit van WTC Roland under the Avalympics flag. - (16 aug) Uw webdienaar is terug en nog steeds ondersteboven van het concert van John Zorn en kompanen op Jazz Middelheim in Antwerpen en dat zal nog effe duren (om een impressie te geven hier zijn ze live in Marciac 2007). Vandaar de retard. Dan nu een belangrijk bericht, voorlopig kort en bondig : de Wereldkampioenschappen 3wielrennen 2012 gaan door op zondag 27 mei in Asse voor de tijdrit (tijdens 7 van Kettelo 2012) en op maandag 28 mei in Merchtem voor de wegwedstrijd. - (12 juni) Mystery Race primeur : velen vroegen zich al af wat die 'Mystery Race' nu eigenlijk was, reeds lang aangekondigd als laatste koers van de Emile De Beukelaer Trofee 2011. Die race gaat door op zondag 18 september tijdens de autoloze zondag en feestelijkheden errond pal in het midden van Antwerpen. Meteen de eerste 3wielerkoers in Antwerpen sinds het einde van de 19de eeuw. Voor de 3wielersport en 3wielfietsen is er een pak publiciteit te rapen middels een wellicht bijzonder talrijk publiek, televisie en radio. Meer gegevens volgen in juli en augustus. Noteer alvast de datum en locatie : zondag 18 september, Meir (de duurste straat in Monopoly!), Antwerpen. / Mystery Race Breaking News : a lot of people already wondered what this so called 'Mystery Race', announced earlier, was all about. Well, the 'Mystery Race' is to be an international tricycle road race on Sunday September 18 in the center of Antwerp. At that day the city is car free and lots of festivities are programmed, including and headlining as announced the tricycle road race, a superb possibility to put tricycle sport and tricycling in general in the (big) picture, because we can expect a large crowd of people there plus national television and radio. An opportunity certainly not to be missed. More info in the coming months. 3wielweb really hopes riders outside of Belgium to come and race with us in what will certainly be historic race and help us to give tricycle sport a real future. Please note: Sunday September 18, Meir (the most expensive street in Belgian Monopoly), Antwerp.

- (12 juni) Internetproblemen opgelost! Merchtem Koers of het Belgisch Kampioenschap op de Weg was een voltreffer en een schitterende en spannende koers met winnaar en BK Joeri Meyen. Op een half wiel volgde Jurgen De Braekeler. 25 seconden later spurtte Kris Lelie zich naar de laatste podiumplaats, net voor local en youngster Stijn De Vleminck. Een halve minuut later volgde de Britse kampioen Geoffrey Booker. Drie minuten na de eerste twee en onder luide aanmoedigingen spurtte Dave Beeckman zich naar een schitterende zesde plaats voor Gerry Meyen en André Van Bosbeke, die laatste eindigde. Zoals gezegd, schitterende koers en een uitstekende organisatie. Hier zullen in 2012 de Wereldkampioenschappen worden gereden. Volledige uitslag. / Interenet problems solved! The Merchtem Race or Belgian Road Championship was a fantastic and thrilling race. Winner and Belgian Champion is Joeri Meyen, followed by half a wheel by Jurgen De Braekeler. Nearly half a minute later another sprint had to decide the third place. it was won by Kris Lelie before ocal and youngster Stijn De Vleminck. Half a minute later British champion Geoff Booker ended fifth. Three minutes behind the winner Dave Beeckman became sixth only just before Gerry Meyen and André Van Bosbeke, who ende up last. Great organisation and nice people. This is definately the scene for the 2012 World Tricycle Championships. Results.

- (9 juni) Vanaf nu complete concentratie op de koers van zaterdag. Merchtem koers start zaterdag om 13u. Alle renners dienen aanwezig te zijn ten laatste om 12u. / From now on we concentrate on the Merchtem race of coming Saturday, starting om 13 hours. All riders have to be present at 12 at the very latest.

- (7 juni) De 7 van Kettelo voor 2wieler Teams : voor de eerste keer werd er ook een TeamTrofee uitgereikt, een tweewielerjuweeltje gemaakt door de leerlingen van 't Schoolhuis te Opwijk. Er kwamen 8 teams aan de start en winnaar werd het Team Pansj met een uitstekende gezamenlijke tijd van 31'55 voor hun drie beste renners. Team Picobello werd tweede op een kleine minuut en Team Servo Rosso werd nog een halve minuut later derde. Het Team Bizon eindigde vierde, de White Horses vijfde en dat van 't Schoolhuis van Opwijk zesde, net voor de niet aflatende Toeters. Uiteraard vele minuten later eindigden de Merchtemse politiekers.

- (7 juni) De 7 van Kettelo voor Dames op twee wielen werd gewonnen door Liliane Meganck in een tijd van 11 minuten rond of 38,18 km/u. Liliane Meganck klopte met 4 seconden de drievoudig winnares Irina Cleemput, die weliswaar recordhoudster blijft (10'46 of 39,01 km/u in 2008). Twee minuten later eindigde Jasmien Verstraeten als derde. Louisa Buggenhout, die toch nog tegen een snelheid van meer dan 30 km/u over het parcours raasde, sloot de rij. Sechts vier dames aan de start, moet meer zijn.

- (7 juni) 7 van Kettelo 2011 zorgde bij de tweewielers voor een verbeten strijd. Schitterend winnaar werd Wim Van Verre uit Malderen met een tijd van 9’23 of 44,76 km/u. Kris Meys werd tweede op elf seconden en Raf Van den Bossche derde op dertien seconden. Hier werd het record niet gebroken. Dat staat nog steeds op naam van Dieter Bäumer, die in de editie 2007 een fabuleuze tijd van 9'14" neerzette of 45,45 km/u. In die snelle editie eindigde de tweede, Alain Goolaerts, op amper twee tiende seconden! Recordhouder Dieter Bäumer eindigde dit jaar op de elfde plaats. De Britse renner Neil Winter werd 19de in een tijd van 10'41.

- (7 juni) 7 van Kettelo tricycle record gebroken! De oude en nieuwe Belgisch kampioen tijdrijden Joeri Meyen reed 11'22" of 36,95 km/u over de 7 km en was hiermee 4 seconden vlugger dan de vroegere recordtijd, gevestigd in 2010 door ... Joeri Meyen. Proficiat! / The old and new Belgan champ Joeri Meyen broke his own 7 of Kettelo record by 4 seconds. The new best time is 11'22" or 36,95 km/h. Congrats!

We pogen hier een en ander nog te kunnen rechtzetten. Alvast onze excuses. Ook wensen wij aanvullend nog te bedanken, in willekeurige volgorde. 't Schoolhuis uit Opwijk en de leerlingen voor de schitterende trofees. Om te koesteren voor wie er een kon veroveren. De renners en renners van de dag die alles gedaan hebben om af te kunnen zien. In het bijzonder de delegatie uit Engeland en Wales, wat een overgave! De Snassers die op hun 49ste jaar sein gaven, de richting aanwezen en aanmoedigingen riepen. De politie en het Rode Kruis. En ook een beetje onszelf : het @Finas-Deko Asse Tricycle Team en 3wielweb.

The farm has been burned down several times in history. Hopefuly we will find someone to translate the whole series, which has over 50 parts.

Dit omdat de reglementering voor jonge wielrenners (met in het achterhoofd 2wielrenners) en met reden zeer strict is, waardoor het aantal koersen wordt beperkt. Alleen, er zijn open open koersen voor 3wielrenners (laat staan -18 jarigen), behalve dan degene die 3wielweb mede inricht. Daarom vraagt 3wielweb die beperking en discriminatie op te heffen. De hierover gezag hebben instantie, Wielerbond Vlaanderen werd hierover aangesproken. Wordt zeker vervolgd. / Minus 18 riders excluded from competition. The strict and sensible reglementation regarding the amount of races for young riders, bicyclists in mind, also apply for young tricylists. Therefore only a few organisers are allowed to organise youth races. However there are no open tricycle races except for the 3wielweb tricycle races. And certainly no youth races. Therefore 3wielweb asks Wielerbond Vlaanderen to help and alter the reglementation and stop the discrimination. To be continued.

- (18 sept) Eileen Keene (1940 - 2010) - Eileen's many friends joined Dave and their family to say goodbye to Eileen for the last time at the crematorium chapel in Westbury-on-Trym, near Bristol, on Friday 17 September. Gathering in sunshine before the service, cyclists from the west country and beyond, on two wheels and three, joined other mourners to remember an exceptional lady who had brought love and happiness into many lives, and who had lived her own life with courage, determination and joy. In a simple and moving humanist ceremony, Eileen's life was celebrated and her memory was cherished. She will be misssed by everyone who knew her. (Roger Alma).

Interestingly, the time is exacty one minute slower than the Pembroke to London tricycle record set by Ralph (solo) in 1995.".

- (15 sept) Dadswell & Mace record attempt - Roger Alma : "I have just received news that the tandem tricycle pair have broken the record, subject to confirmation and ratification. Their time is reported as 11 hours, 34 minutes and 58 seconds, which improves the old record by 7 minutes 07 seconds by my reckoning. I haven't any direct information, but they seem to have fallen behind a tight schedule on the final fifty miles or so into London, though nevertheless successful. The last few miles must have been nail-biting stuff! This adds to an impressive series of records by Dadswell and Mace, including Lands End to London in 13.37.35 in 2008, the twelve hour record of 273.2 miles (just under 440 km) in 2009 and the London to Edinburgh in 19.15.51 also in 2009."

Our reporter Roger Alma : : "Ralph Dadswell and Paul Mace set off this morning at 7 o'clock from Pembroke in West Wales to ride to Hyde Park, London, attempting to beat the record set by Pat Kenny and John Taylor in 1977. The time to beat is 11.42.05 for the 245 miles (392 km) and the Dadswell/Mace schedule is for 11 hours 15 minutes. It has rained most of the morning, but the wind is favourable and the temperature about 17.5 C. Here are a couple of photos taken near Abergavenny at 100 miles. They were on schedule and looking very cheerful."

Ralph : "On Tuesday 14th September (tomorrow - note), Ralph Dadswell (me!) and Paul Mace will ride a tandem-tricycle from Pembroke to London, in an attempt to beat the record time of 11h 42m 5s for the 245 (ish) miles. The current record was set in 1977 by Pat Kenny and John Taylor. We should have reasonably favourable winds. But I'm also expecting a fair bit of rain, which will doubtless be amusing for those in the following car. You can download a schedule here. We will also be transmitting our location (strictly speaking, it's the following car's location) via Google Latitude. I've set up a special account which should allow anyone to log in and see where we are. The sequence should be : Go to http://www.google.co.uk/ig - Log in as pembroke@dadswell.co.uk with password pembr0ke (that's a zero in there). You should then see a number of 'gadgets' available including Google Latitude. On the Latitude map, you should be able to see the location of ralph@dadswell.com, which is me (surprise, surprise). Must admit that I haven't really tried any of this out before, and so there may be all sorts of problems (eg when several people log in to the same account) on the day. But it might be worth a try." Voor de Belgische delegatie zullen deze tijdraces een goede indicatie zijn van de sterkte van de Britse renners met het oog op het WK van 3 october, waarvoor 47 renners zijn ingeschreven onder wie dus 9 Belgen./ Coming Saturday and Sunday the national British championships on the 10 mile (Saturday) and the 25 mile (Sunday) are on. These time trial races will be telling a lot about the strength of the British riders and will therefore be closely followed by the Belgian delegation for the WTC on October 3. Rob Nicasi (T2) - 3. Dirk Vliegen (T1) - 4. Olivier Geraerts (T1). - (23 feb) Op zaterdag 20 maart is 3wielweb present met een Try a Trike event tijdens de "Grote RA-Bewegingsdag" (RA = Reumatoïde Arthritis) op de Campus H.Hart van de KH Leuven, een organisatie van de RA Liga. De bedoeling is RA patiënten wegwijs te maken in het sport- en bewegingsaanbod en aan te zetten tot meer beweging. / On Saturday March 20 3wielweb is present at a very special day in Heverlee, Leuven with a Trike a Trike event. On this day people suffering from rheumatoid artrites are invited to come and try out different sports. The event is organised by the RA Liga.
